A few years ago Disney Channel put on the very first disney channel games. Well This year [2011], they’re doing a Disney Channel Friends For Change Games, to help change the world and inspire others. You can read below all about it! I can’t wait for the games to air!
Over 30 Disney Channel and Disney XD stars from around the globe will compete in “Disney Friends for Change Games” to promote conservation and the power of coming together with friends and family to make a difference in one’s community and the world. Four teams of young stars will compete in a series of fun physical challenges to benefit specific charities and Friends for Change community projects on a global basis.
For five weeks beginning FRIDAY, JUNE 24, Disney Channel will present “Disney Friends for Change Games” in interstitials during its Friday, Saturday and Sunday primetime original series programming, and Disney XD will present a special episode from the games Monday nights beginning JUNE 27 (9:30 p.m., ET/PT). The Games will culminate with a special half-hour episode SUNDAY, JULY 31 on Disney Channel.
“Disney Friends for Change Games” teams will compete on behalf of Fauna and Flora International (Green Team), World Wildlife Fund (Red Team), Ocean Conservancy (Blue Team) and UNICEF (Yellow Team). Disney will make a donation of $125,000 to each charity and the winning team’s charity will also receive an additional $100,000 donation from Disney.
Eighteen year-old Hollywood Records recording artist Bridgit Mendler (“Lemonade Mouth” and “Good Luck Charlie”) co-wrote and performed this year’s Disney’s Friends for Change anthem, “We Can Change The World,” a buoyant pop/rock song which will be released globally JUNE 10. All of the proceeds from the song will go towards environmental charities through Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund.
Beginning JUNE 10, Disney stars will invite kids and families worldwide to visit Disney.com/projectgreen, and Friends for Change international sites to pledge actions they will take in their own lives that will make a difference and help the planet. To date, over four million pledges have been made by kids worldwide. Additionally, young planet crusaders can play online versions of the games that took place during “Disney Friends for Change Games” and donate their earned points to their favorite teams. The team with the most online points will be named the regional “Fan Favorite” team, and each of the three global region’s “Fan Favorite” will be awarded an additional $100,000 for their team’s charity. Through Disney’s Friends for Change Games and with the help of kids at home, Disney is donating almost one million dollars globally.

Shake It Up stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya Coleman say their on-screen characters reflect some of their own personal experiences.
Bella, 13, and Zendaya, 14, play best friends CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue who land their dream job as backing dancers on a TV show.
Bella told Newsbeat she was able to use some of her real-life experiences, which include opting for homeschooling when she was teased for being dyslexic.
She said: “I’m dyslexic. I’ve always had it since I was very little and I used to have a really tough time in school.
‘Look up to her’
“I used to get made fun of every day and we put it in the show that CeCe was dyslexic because we wanted people to look up to CeCe and think, ‘Well, if she can do it then so can I’.
“Actually now I get a lot of fans who say, ‘Hey, Bella I know you’re not dyslexic but CeCe is and I look up up her’. And I’m like, ‘What do you mean? I am dyslexic!’”
Zendaya also admits it’s fun putting “a bit of her own self” into Rocky’s character, who is vegetarian, like the actress.

It was my dream and to hear your dream said out loud – what more can you say to that?”Zendaya Coleman on landing a role in Shake It Up
The girls don’t seem at all phased by their busy schedules and say that it’s actually fun being at work.Zendaya said: “Our show, since it’s a dance show and since it’s a comedy we’re having fun all the time.
“Our work is kind of like our play. Why go to the movies when you can go to your own movie!”
‘Buddy comedy’
Bella added: “Plus Z is not even my best friend she’s my sister and I couldn’t do anything without her. Shake It Up is such a close-knit friends and family that we have fun every day.
Zendaya describes the show as “a buddy comedy built around dance”, which sees the best friends try and work through relationship and family problems while living their dreams as professional dancers.
She admits she was more than a little excited by the prospect of appearing on the Disney show when she’d heard she’d won the role.
“I actually could not speak. I couldn’t talk. My dad looked at me like I was crazy but I literally had nothing to say,” she said.
“That was one of those little speechless moments. I heard it and my mind went blank. It was my dream and to hear your dream said out loud – what more can you say to that?”
Bella Thorne revealed in an interview with Latina Magazine that she is ready to follow in the footsteps of her fellow Disney Stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. Here’s the quote from the magazine interview:
I’m excited to be following in their footsteps. I’m proud to be Latina and be on the Disney Channel and I’m honored that I can represent Latinas everywhere. I think my dad would be proud too, he used to say I was his Latina princess. I do look up to both of them. I met Demi briefly when I visited Sonny With a Chance. She was kind and wished me well on our show. [She] is a beautiful, talented girl who happens to be moving on in her career. She’s a brave girl. She’s dealing with her issues and I respect that. I wish her the best. I’ve worked with Selena a few times and she is not only kind, but very professional. She has lived a very happy, successful life and has always been considerate of her fans. She has done a wonderful job managing her career and keeping herself real — she is very talented, a hard worker and a perfectionist.
